This October 2nd will be the Juvenile Diabetes 5k Run/Walk at Boulevard School in Gloversville. It is one of the more “simple” events we do and a good one to get your feet wet for public services.
If you are interested, contact Steve Kuck K2ALS and in the next few weeks we will have maps and other information for everyone.  For more details on the event, please click here.  To register, click here.

Update 10/11/2011 – Pictures of the event:

Thanks to the hams who helped last week with Montgomery Co., NY flood.

On Wednesday (9/7/2011) afternoon a call was put to assist with the record flooding throughout Montgomery County.

A sincere thank you  from Dwight Schwabrow, Director of  the  Montgomery County Emergency Management, was extended to all who assisted during the tragic event. We would like to acknowledge and recognize the following hams for helping during the event:   W2PR, KR2L, N2KAE, K2ALS, WA2EZ, KC2WGU.

These volunteers provided critical and essential radio communications, such as lock level readings for the locks located between Amsterdam and Ft. Plain.

After overcoming some challenges, the ham volunteers were able to provide timely information to the EOC. This information was critical to the operation of the EOC and helped determine where to allocate the appropriate support.
