Mark your calendar. This year ARRL Field Day is approaching. We have less than 2 weeks.

Field day is the single most popular on-the-air ham radio event held annually in the US and Canada. Each year over 35,000 amateurs and people interested on the hobby gather with their clubs, friends or simply by themselves to operate.

To learn more about field day please visit: http://www.arrl.org/field-day.

Joe KB2TJE will be hosting this years Tryon ARC field day at his QTH: 25 East, 11th Ave Gloversville Ny. Join us on Saturday and Sunday. We will have multiple HF and VHF stations. There are plans for a digitalmode station and also we will have some older radios for everyone to see and use. You don’t need to have a ham license to talk on the GOTA station. Join us and experience the trill of talking to other hams across the world.

UPDATE: Photos of the event:

We have been in contact with many of the NNY clubs and radio groups here.
They have a number of issues of concern to share with every amateur in NNY.
So we decided to have this very important mtg. scheduled for May 8th,
Saturday Morning at 10am  please send representative(s) from your club
and I would like to have our NNY officers there in addition to the regular reps.
Location is the AMC – (ADK Medical Center across from Lake Colby on Rte 86.
just outside Saranac Lake as you go toward Paul Smith’s College.  AARA’s
Roland Patnode – W2WIZ has arrange to hold our mtg in the AMC board room
we look forward to seeing you there.   Meeting will begin at 10:15ish.
Thank you  for being an active participant in NNY.   All NNY amateurs are
welcome to attend!

You may have noticed that a bunch of weird posts came across Twitter and were on the main page of this website for a little while tonight. This was because, I was troubleshooting how we could get posts from this website to go to Twitter then to our Facebook page without anyone having to post it more than once. I can say that as of right now, it’s all working fine and dandy. continue reading…
