The RACES net, which is held every Tuesday at 7:00 PM EST, will be conducted by Earl (KR2L) this month. A big thank you to John (KC2NAS) for the excellent work running the NET in July.

Railfest Aug 7, 2010 – TryonARC Special Event Station.

The Railfest will be held this year on Saturday August 7, 2010 at Rail Station Park on W. Fulton Street in Gloversville (Raindate Sunday August 8, 2010). Please join us and participate on the “Special Even Station” which will be operating on emergency power and covering the HF and VHF bands. Stop by and say hi, get some literature and meet club members. Support your local ham radio club!

Updates to the EchoLink Node

Changes to the EchoLink interface were made to avoid unintentionally interacting with the repeater controller. The change basically consist of the addition of the DTMF code “C” before every echolink command.

For example: using your DTMF keypad

- To connect to node 123456 dial: “C123456”

- To disconnect from this node dial: “C#”

100Hz PL tone no longer required.

Members of the club voted to disable the 100Hz PL tone on the K2JJI Repeater (-146.70Mhz). This was done so operators that are either not yet familiar with their radios or have radios that do not produce a 100 Hz tone could still check in to the NET. Thanks Andrew (K1YMI) for taking care of this.

SKYWARN Reminder 4/22/2010 (7PM to 9PM)

I will like to remind everyone that the spring SKYWARN session has been scheduled for April the 22nd from 7pm to 9pm at the EOC room, located at the back of the Fulton Co Sheriff Dept. This SKYWARN session will be presided by a short 30 minutes Tryon ARC meeting.

The East Greenbush Amateur Radio Association (W2EGB) will be hosting their 7th annual hamfest on Saturday, May 8 2010 from 8 am to 1 pm for the general public; 6 am vendors setup. This is rain or shine event. The location for this event is:

General Admission is $6, Pavilion $6 per table (Tables provided) and Tailgating $6 per 8 foot space.
