“Unsung Heroes – Amateur Radio Operators at Ground Zero on 9/11/2001″ It is a nice record of some RACES communications on that day and first hand accounts of survivors of the attack in New York City. Runtime aprox 28 minutes.
First aired on Saturday 4 September 2004 by BBC Radio 4.
During the last snow storm there was a power outage/surge at the repeater site. Some electronic equipment stopped working. It was not until today that it was realized that the repeater also is not functioning. When it is turned on and transmits, it then shuts down. It also is not functioning on battery backup which is leading us to believe that the power supply may have an issue. ETA on repair is unknown at the moment.
We will still hold the Fulton County RACES Net on the OUTPUT (146.700 MHz) of the repeater and rely on relays to assist Net Control with check-ins.
This will be a real good test of what can happen during a real incident if there is no power at the repeater site. We can still have a net on our output frequency without a repeater. Please come and check in tomorrow and test how far your signal works Simplex. Program a memory for 146.70 with NO offset and you will be right where you need to be. See you on the net tomorrow at 7:00 PM EST 03/02/2010.
